New Blog!

I've been hard at work developing a new blog. It will be integrated into my oringinal website, will have a cleaner look with bigger pictures, and everything should be a little bit easier to find. As my business continues to grow, it's nice to continually upgrade my services, and this one I'm particularly excited about. It will be available at http://www.hawthornephotography.com/blog soon.

If you enjoy my work, please check back often, leave comments, and enjoy the show!

Washington DC Trip

All work and no play is never good. So this past week I took off to Washington, DC to visit my little sister. She's getting a degree in Political Science at Georgetown, and working for Senator Kennedy's health committe, so she was an excellent guide for the area. I took my trusty little point-and-shoot camera (my goodness, sometimes it's wonderful not to carry two 15 pound cameras around my neck at once)and we hit all the major sights. The Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, Capitol Building, White House. We even got stuck in the Senate office building when there was a fire in the cafeteria and got to meet lots of nice firefighters in their very friendly scuba masks. What a fun and exciting trip! Here are some of my fun tourist photos.

Andrew & Suzy | Stanford Memorial Church Wedding | SF Asian Art Museum

This weekend I had the pleasure of working with Andrew and Suzy, a wonderful couple who tied the knot at the beautiful Stanford Memorial Church. I'm always happy to get back to my old stomping grounds, and this wedding was well worth the trip. After the ceremony we drove over to the San Francisco Asian Art Museum, one of my new favorite locations in the Bay Area for a wedding ceremony or a reception. It has big, classical columns, a classy stairway entrance, and is located right in the center of the city.

I joined the talented Andi Hatch to start everything off at Suzy's Menlo Park Appartment before heading over to the Stanford Church. I really liked the birds-eye angle over the ceremony. It gave a great alternative angle, and it was super fun to be able to try something different to find a really different perspective.

Then came the spectacular Asian Art Museum. With custom lighting, fabulous food, and a toe-tapping brass band, this was a beautiful and fun-filled evening. Here are some of my favorite shots from the day:

Wedding Album Design

I just finished with a flush mount album design for Echo and Jim. Take a look at some of the layouts below. I just got the prints in today, and they look fantastic! each spread is 12x24 inches, built so that the images have a lot of impact. I'm sending the prints to be mounted and bound tomorrow, and can't wait to see the finished product!

Olga and Andrei SF Engagement Session

Last week I had the pleasure to work with Olga and Andrei. With lots of family in Russia- I was tasked with doing a photo shoot full of famous landmarks to send everyone back home. We spent the afternoon and evening around San Francisco, and made it home to Berkeley for a final shot in from of the famous Berkeley campanile. We also made it to the Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of the Legion of Honor, and a few other places. Think you can spot them? Take a look at the full slideshow HERE. We had a ton of fun, and I'm looking forward to their wedding at the Berkeley City Club this coming June. Enjoy the photos!
